I am rating the Guitar Hanger MX® and customer service as 5 stars. I re-did my son’s room, because the guitars took up too much floor space. He was blown away how it turned out. Now he plays different guitars more often because they are easier to access. You know what they say. How many guitars does a guitar player need? Just one - more! - Mark M. (Conroe, TX)

Guitar Hanger MX® is a heavy-duty wall mounted system for holding multiple guitars. Helps to clear up floor space and keep your guitars within easy reach, and looking great. The system is composed of 2 parts: the SlatWall and the Hanger. The SlatWall comes in either 48” or 95” lengths and mounts onto any wall. The sleek high-performance finishes and colors show off your prized axes in style. Hangers simply slot into the SlatWall from the front are easily removable, plus the head rotates 180° for hanging guitars facing frontways, sideways, or at an angle.
Our Hangers are made with welded steel, then powder coated with an added soft foam cushion to protect delicate finishes around the guitar neck. Locking bar secures your guitar safely. If you have multiple guitars, this is the best way to get your guitars off the floor and up on the wall. Looks good, works great.®
The number of guitars that you can hang depends on what direction you would like your guitars to face. If you'd like to hang your guitars facing front ways, then each guitar will take up approximately 12” of slatwall space. Therefore a 48” slatwall will fit 4 guitars facing front ways and a 95” slatwall will fit 8 guitars facing front ways. If you would like to hang your guitars sideways or at an angle, then each guitar will take up approximately 6” of slatwall space. Therefore a 48” slatwall can fit 8 guitars and a 95” slatwall can fit up to 16 guitars facing sideways or at an angle.
The 3" Hanger will hang guitars facing front ways but does not allow much room for the guitar to be rotated at an angle.
The 6" Hanger will hang guitars facing front ways and also allow most guitars to be partially rotated so they hang at an angle. It will not allow most guitars to hang completely sideways (perpendicular to the wall).
The 12" Hanger will hang guitars facing front ways and allow most guitars to be fully rotated so they hang sideways (perpendicular to the wall).
The above are general answers that apply for most guitars. But guitars come in many different shapes and sizes. To get an exact answer, you need to determine the widest part of your specific guitar. To do this, measure the distance from the center of the fret board to the widest part of your guitar. If you want to hang your guitar sideways and this distance is less than 6", then you can use our 6" Hanger and your guitar will be able to hang sideways, so it hangs perpendicular to the wall. If this distance is more than 6", then your guitar can be rotated to the point it almost touches the wall, but it won’t be hanging completely perpendicular to the wall. In this case, use the 12" Hanger so your guitar can hang perpendicular to the wall.
The Hanger can be slotted into the SlatWall from the front as follows:
Tilt the front of the Hanger up.
Slot the top flange of the Hanger into the upper SlatWall groove.
Tilt the Hanger back down.
Push the Hanger upward slightly.
Slot the bottom flange of the Hanger into the lower SlatWall groove.
Some guitars like Fender Telecasters™, have a narrow headstock and may not fit well on a hanger. Here is how you can modify the hanger to make it fit:
Using channel lock pliers or table vise or similar, bend both arms inward a bit.
Then bend the left arm down a bit.
Then bend the right arm up a bit.
Your narrow headstock guitar will now fit perfectly.
Unfortunately, no guitar hangers have completely nitro cellulose safe cushions, ours included. As we understand it, damage can occur in two ways: the material used for the cushion 'out-gasses' causing the lacquer to stain, or the cushion prohibits air and moisture movement from the wood of the guitar through the finish causing it to stain.
There are accessory items that address either of these problems, but not both. Leather covers can be purchased (Ingles #SA-10HC) that allow the wood/finish to breathe, but they do not completely stop the cushion gasses from passing through to the finish. There are 'gas-free' cushion materials, but these are relatively expensive and, like the leather covers, address just half the potential problem. Somewhere in between is likely a solution, but so far none of us manufacturers have found the confidence to state "this is the solution".
For our guitar hangers we use a material that we consider to be comparatively low in its emissions. We can suggest that cloth or leather 'pads' be placed on the hanger arms.
The answer depends on how long your headstock is from the "nut". This measurement can vary by guitar model. On average, mounting the SlatWall such that its top edge is 6" from your ceiling should be adequate, however your particular instrument may vary. If you have the room, it's better to go more than 6" if possible.

Thank you. And must say install was easy. Love that I can pick where I want to make holes so I hit all studs. And it makes a great focus point in my bar/band room (former garage) besides access to my guitars!

I have been meaning to write in order to thank you and your fine company for providing such an excellent product and excellent service. I am ecstatic with this system, and it has reinvigorated my guitar playing because my guitars are always available to me and looking so good. They call my name as soon as I walk through the door. Even my wife is happy! As a self-employed businessman myself, I appreciate the effort that went into following up with my initial questions and to make sure I was a satisfied customer. Congratulations on running a very sharp company! I will certainly recommend you to others, and I only wish there was a reason for me to do more business with you. I can only think of one area in which I can suggest an improvement. And I believe this is a problem based on the results of your own success. But when I click on the “more photos“ link on your website, the website just tells me it’s loading and I never see the pictures. I’m sure that’s because so many people have uploaded so many pictures that it takes a long time. But I would love to see more pictures of what other folks have done with your guitar rack. Attached below are a couple of photos of mine. Thanks again for making such a great guitar rack!

I am rating this product 5 stars and the customer service 5 star. I ordered a 95" rail and 8 hangers in all. I was missing 1 of the Pro hangers and it was promptly shipped. I was working on my sons room, rearranging it because the guitars took up too much floor space. After I painted the wall, cut and installed the rail and hangers. Hung up 6 guitars all while he was gone for the day. When he returned home he was blown away. He loves the way everything worked out. Now he plays different guitars more often because they are easier to access. I just placed another order for a 48" rail and more hangers, because there is another wall and a few more guitars. You know what they say. How many guitars does a guitar player need? Just one - more!

5 stars! Great hangers that had very different holders…which were corrected by one quick phone call! Great customer service. My only suggestion would be to have better web images and the opportunity to choose what the holder part of the hangers are before ordering. Hope this helps.

4 stars. The product looks great and works exactly as described. Very happy. It would have been 5 stars, but I didn't like having to drill the holes myself. I understand it gives customers maximum flexibility in terms of placement, but it still felt like too much work. In particular, the metal is so soft and delicate that it was too easy to have the drill slip and leave an unwanted mark. Perhaps a compromise would be to have dimples where the holes 'should' go with standard stud placements. That would stop the drill but from slipping and also ensure the holes are aligned correctly.
